Additional Pro Tips
May 22, 2023This is an important Pro Tip: You are always on camera.
Almost every home has a camera. Owners can often see and hear you before you are in front of the house too. They can also often see you from the street.
Be careful of what you say and how you act even before you get to the door. Don’t be on your phone before going up to a door. Don’t talk to your knocking partner about what you are going to say. Don’t readjust your clothing. For example, don’t pull up your pantyhose or adjust your bra or belt. Don't touch your mouth, nose or anywhere on your face. You are about to hand them materials.
Homeowners can see and hear all of this, and it can turn them off before they even meet you. Instead, act like you always have eyes on you. Because you do!
I always tell my agents to gently place the materials neatly. I have watched so many of my agents take their package and just chuck it at the front door. People then see this on camera. When I leave materials, I always politely bend down to place materials. This is a representation of you. Do not handle materials recklessly. They will be turned off working with you before you’ve even had a chance to talk to them.
Remember, how you do one thing is how you do everything.
I tell my agents to always approach the door professionally and always thoughtfully leave their materials. Also, don’t forget to smile! You want them to see you smiling and happy to be visiting their home. Remember all that talk earlier about body language and the benefits of being at the door? You want to remember your body language and micro-expressions on camera too.
