It’s time to talk about your  “Character”
When in the game, a character is the one at play. So now you are looking at yourself as the character in the game. The idea of “character” is really just a way of looking at yourself within a game. It’s a way of seeing yourself while also seeing that you are participating in something with an end goal. It’s just reframing how you look at yourself. Your character is the one acting in your real estate game. Your character is moving across your real estate game board.  Your character is using and allocating its resources. 

Your character is growing and expanding its skills to win.  

Looking at yourself this way improves your perspective while playing your real estate game. 

You’ll also hear me refer to character or “skill stats”

Characters in any game need to build character stats. That just refers to the character’s skills gained and used throughout the game. Skill stats are essential to success in any game. The higher the skill stats, the better a character performs in the game. So the goal in your real estate game is to continually work on raising your skill stats. Your success in real estate is determined by how well equipped you are with skill stats and how well you manage them. When you are strategic about  which skills you gain and maintain, you also experience greater success. 

The more you get used to gamification in your real estate career, the more you will understand that one of greatest hacks in the game is elevating your character stats. And it’s easy to do and within your control.  However ​​you do not want to gain any skills. You want to gain the right skills. It’s important that you plan out how you gain, improve and maintain your skills. 

You also want to manage how many skills you take on. Building too many at once is not advisable. You don't want to be a jack of all trades but master of none. It’s better to focus on a couple key skills at a time and master them one by one. Likewise, do not attempt to strengthen your weaknesses. That’s also not a good strategy. Later in the course, I’ll talk more about playing to your strengths, while accepting your weaknesses. 

One by one in this course, you’ll focus on the exact skills stats you need to keep leveling up in your real estate game.
