Self-Assessing Your Interactions
May 31, 2023It’s important to continually self-assess your door knocking game and identify areas you can strengthen it. In the beginning, you’ll want to do this more often. The more you door knock, the better you’ll get and you won’t need to self-assess as often. However, never let yourself get complacent. From time to time, even if you’ll be door knocking for a while, take time to self-assess. It’s a part of leveling yourself up professionally.
The best strategy for self-assessment is to have a document on your tablet. That way, you can fill it out in your car after knocking. Occasionally, you can also record yourself. Do not do this to record other people. Do this to listen to yourself. Do not do this at the door. Ask a friend or mentor to interact with you for practice. You can listen back to yourself and make notes. This recording gives you a quick reference for how you sound when you are talking to your prospects. It also highlights how you tend to respond or explain things. You’ll also be able to identify the words you use as well as your tone.
The following are some questions to ask yourself about your door knocking interactions:
How is my tone? Am I talking too fast? Am I talking too slowly?
Am I interrupting your lead? Am I asking open-ended questions that continue the conversation?
Is my speech clear? Am I speaking too loudly? Am I speaking too quietly?
All of these questions will help you make improvements on your next interaction.
Now for your ACTION STEP: Agent Renovation has prepared a self-assessment worksheet for you to use. It will help you regularly self-assess and answer all of the above questions. Fill in your answers, and use it at least once every week as you start out. I promise you this will strengthen your game!
