Why Not Just Use Social Media as an Agent?
Feb 27, 2023Why it is important for a Real Estate Agent to use Social Media?
If you want to get stronger, why not just use social media to reach more people? I understand why you think that social media is essential. Everyone tells you to focus on it, but social media is not a profit-producing activity. Social media does not provide direct leads. Those who use it as a prospecting technique is at home clicking buttons.
Here's what I think about social media. When you're an agent posting on social media, how many other agents are posting in your city? In my town, 14,000 other agents are competing for that space.
When people browse, they are exposed to 14,000 agents online. Posting on social media is like throwing a listing on MLS and hoping somebody calls you. Social media is also not action based. You are sitting at home and spending much time planning your social media rather than acting. You are waiting and hoping somebody reacts to something you post and reaches out.
You are taking steps to get those leads when you're at the door knocking. It is action-based, and you can track your numbers. You can find out how many entries and conversations you need to have as you nurture those relationships. When you knock on a door, you can directly track your results to the steps you took in that community. You can see how many doors you need to knock on to get each paycheck.
Some agents were viral on social media but, in reality, felt anxious, and their businesses are not growing. So you want to be careful spending energy on social media because vanity metrics can be misleading, and they can leave you feeling empty and unaccomplished for all your efforts.
The more you door-knock, the more fulfilled you become because it leads to real connections and visible returns. When you see direct results from your actions, it fuels you forward in your game.
